?Redcar rally to beat resilient ripon?

At the return fixture ripon won by 2 points in a physical battle, so today the Sirens had a score to settle.

Early on the sirens got possession and used their backs well to score a well worked try scored by R.Harston 5-0.
The next 15 minutes were littered by poor discipline giving away a staggering 7 penalties which meant the sirens were camped in their own 22 and eventually the ripon physicality crashed over despite a huge defensive effort. 5-5

Redcar went on to score another 3 tries before half time. Two well worked forward trys firstly crashed over by F.Atkinson 10-5, converted by A.Foy 12-5 then a pick and go from a ruck from captain S.Cowley dotting down to make it 17-5. Then a well worked team try resulting in a slick backs play to score in the corner by A.Mcmahon. 22-5 HT

The second half started as the first finished, everytime the sirens got the ball they looked capable of scoring. Another strong carry from S.Cowley scored to make it 27-5 then a well worked penalty set piece move was finished by F.Atkinson to make it 32-5.

Ripon never give up and some poor discipline from the sirens meant that ripon scored from a quick tap 5m penalty to make it 32-12.

Redcar weren't finished there and a brilliant backs play found a great line ran by fullback M.Lazzari to run through and score under the posts 37-12. Converted by M.Bryce 39-12. It was the visitors who had the last say in the game some more brilliant physical carries seen the ball shipped to the wing only for scrumhalf turned flanker A.Sills to high tackle the player 2m out and the referee awarded a penalty try and a yellow card for her sins. 39-19 FT

A great performance from the sirens today. Everytime we got the ball we looked capable of scoring, the hard work on the training pitch showed today. Well done to Ripon. A gutsy never say die performance. Its always a pleasure to play against them.
