So this year it was the turn of Darlington to host the Under 12s Girls County Festival, at Blackwell Meadows.

With a team of 8 we took on Houghton first, this being the first time we had played this team.
Starting off positively, we had worked on our breakdowns and this showed with us winning the majority of the possession and capitalising on this in the form of a stream of tries. the first game resulting in a 20 to 5 win, a good start.

The next match would be against Darlington, a team we had played previously, and convincingly beat. Although this time we had a fight on our hands, yet still managed to come out on top, with a 25 to 5 win. Good progress for a time less than 6 months in the making.

Following on from that match, we found ourselves in a similar position against Hartlepool, but with this being a slightly more scrappier game. A lot of hard fought for ball and a draw to bring the game to a 10 10 draw (unfortunately denying us the win with one disallowed try at the end).

By the last game against Billingham, and one that the director of the festival is quoted as saying, "One of the games i was looking forward to, and wanted to referee was the Billingham Redcar clash", our reputation had succeeded us, resulting in teams mentally preparing themselves to face Redcar. this resulted in a 25 to 5 loss for us. To date, our first major loss as a team but equally an opportunity to analyse our mistakes and come back stronger.

All in all a very successful festival for us, relatively speaking, we now have a standard and reputation to uphold.

And as for Billingham, your coming to us soon, prepare yourself for the screams of doom from the Banshees, GO REDCAR!!!
