Redcar prove to be a strong challenge

Redcar U15's travelled to Guisborough on a grey dismal Sunday morning.

The team were eager to play and keen to break the pattern of consistently being beaten by Guisborough in previous seasons.

Redcar scored the first try via a rolling maul very early in the game - thanks to Jack keeping his head and the rest of the team supporting in a technique which they have improved on greatly this season. This was quickly followed by a strong challenge by the Guisborough team and this carried on throughout the game.

Matty scored a hat-trick, Josh brought home another try and Joe consistently did the business when it came to the conversions.

Some fantastic tackles were completed throughout the game with some of Redcars smallest players showing they were not frightened to go for the challenge against a bigger Guisborough team.

Redcar were on the receiving end of some nasty injuries with Lewis being taken to hospital for a knee injury and Travis being knocked unconscious in the first half. Swiftly followed by Kas receiving a fracture to his collar bone in the second half. It is hoped the lads make a speedy recovery!

As the injury toll rose so did Redcars determination to change history and they played on with the same strength and determination they had shown early in the game. This continued determination led to a hard fought for victory that had everyone from Redcar cheering and celebrating!

Every player in the Redcar team can be proud of what they took into this game with a performance that showed discipline, teamwork, respect and sheer determination.

End score was 27-31 with Redcar the worthy winners in a very physical game.
