Jarrow had troubles raising a side to come to Redcar and many teams would have cried off, they were on a hiding to nothing, they’d not won a game all season and it was a long trip to Redcar, who were top of the league, but I told them it was to be a special reunion day and a big crowd expected, they said they would do their best, even if it meant persuading 2 teamers and 18 year olds to make up the numbers as they didn’t want to let us down, so all credit is due to them. They scored a second half try and almost scored two more, one when the ball was dropped over the try line. So I take my hat off to them all, that is what rugby is all about sportsmanship and trying your best. Their spirit was fantastic all game till the final whistle.
I will not describe Redcar’s tries blow by blow, other than list the scorers,
Josh Dixon got 5, Domonic Ayre 2, Damian Buck 2, Joe Watkins 2, Richie Evans, Danny Addison, Gabe Holmes, Brad Stovell, Jonny Ryan and not forgetting Ike Attah.
Final Score Redcar 107 Jarrovians 7.
