Redcar Overcome A Resolute Yarm Side

Yarm kicked off but Redcar soon got into their stride and centre Matty Curry soon broke through for the first score only 7 minutes had been played, 0 – 5. Redcar continued to look dangerous with the ball but lots of unforced errors stopped them from adding to the scoreboard until the 30th minute when second row Drew Reader scored, 0 – 10.
Yarm looked lively at times but Redcar’s defence was superb and kept them contained. Winger Charlie Templeman scored Redcar’s third try on 38 mins, after another fine break from Matty Curry, he was stopped short and then the ball was spun out across the backs for Charlie to break the last few tackles to score, it was converted by Danny Addison, 0 – 17.

When the game restarted, Redcar’s other winger Sam Lawton scored what was probably the best try of the game, Yarm were attacking and when the play broke down, their fly half kicked the ball up field and it was caught by Redcar full back Danny Addison who charged off up the field and made a lot of ground before passing the ball to Sam, who romped away from the despairing tacklers to score, 0 – 22. On 52 mins Yarm’s No.1 received a yellow card and Danny Addison kicked the penalty, 0 – 25.
Centre Josh Dixon completed the scoring on 60 mins, when once again from a Yarm attack the ball was kicked and rebounded off Josh, who quickly picked it up and cantered off to score under the posts, Addison added the easy conversion, 0 - 32.
The game was brought abruptly to a halt when a Yarm player was injured and required an ambulance, so the game finished 7 mins early.
