On a very hot sunny day Redcar’s young crew soon got in a scoring mood.

Redcar kicked off and after only 5 minutes attacked the Seaham line, hooker Jack Cook was stopped just short and then as the forwards drove on the ball was lost and Seaham attempted to kick to clear their lines and made a hash of it kicking it straight up in the air and Jacob Unwin caught it over the line to score Redcar’s first try, Danny Addison converted, 0 – 7. Seaham struck back on 11 mins with a try under the posts, 7 – 7. From the restart Seaham caught the ball and boxkicked it straight back to Redcar, it was passed to speedy winger Luke Watson who raced up the touchline and scored in the top corner, 7 – 12.
Seaham missed an easy penalty on 16 mins and 2 mins later Redcar’s Brad Smith made a barnstorming run crashing through the centre to score under the posts, Danny Addison converted, 7 – 17. Now Redcar had really took command of the game and on 22 mins Redcar’s captain Ian Fox ran from inside his own half leaving tacklers in his wake and crashed over the line, once again to score Redcar bonus point try, 7 – 24. Next on the score sheet was Michael ‘Sharky’ Hammond on 30 mins, Danny ‘Ado’ adding the extras, 7 – 31. Seaham rallied a bit and hit back with an unconverted try just before halftime.

Half Time Seaham 12 Redcar 31.

Seaham restarted the game and Redcar’s young scrum half scored on 45 mins, 12 – 38. Seaham were flagging a bit in the heat, although there were several water breaks they were still were putting up a great fight and scored another unconverted try, 19 – 38. But Redcar’s young team proved the fitter and ran in 3 more tries from Lee Collins, Luke Watson and Richie Young, 19 – 59. Frustration was getting the better of Seaham and their second row No.4 was given a yellow card for a trip. Redcar had the final say when the scrum half scored again in the final few mins.

Final score Seaham 19 Redcar 64.
