Redcar Overwhelmed By Gateshead

Redcar travelled North to Gateshead expecting a tough game and they got it. Gateshead scored in the first minute, they played some great rugby in the first half, and the scoring didn't stop till half time, we need to learn as a team how to defend wider channels better. By half time the score was a daunting Gateshead 68 Redcar 0.

The second half was much better and Redcar managed to get 2 tries. One by hooker Lee Phoenix in the 70th minute, after some great forward play followed by a floated pass over the Gateshead defence, from first team debutant full back Shay Barritt, for Lee to score in the corner. Captain Drew Reader got Redcar’s 2nd try on the 78th minute, a pick and go from the scrum, he then beat 2 defender's to scored in the corner. Needless to say there were 4 more tries from Gateshead in between Redcar’s tries.
