Redcar started in their usual manner and were on the front foot pretty quick with Craig Newlands scoring and Daniel Addison adding the extras, 0 - 7. For the next 15 mins Redcar had most of the play until Craig went over to score his second try. TDSOB rallied and and began to put some phases together and Redcar forgot how to defend.
This was the start of Hartlepool being in control of the match both on the scoreboard and on the pitch. This was not helped by the referee awarding numerous penalties against Redcar. After and few scuffles and a few tries each, the game was in the balance, Hartlepool scored and all seemed lost. Until the last play, when a bit of brilliance from the backs with Jake Duddles linking well with Craig Newlands and then the longest chase down ever for the line to score. It Finished 27 - 29, much closer than we'd have liked but still 5 league points.
Man of match Steve Wilson.
